Our qualified team of dispensers take care of all of your prescriptions making sure these are correct, signed by a doctor, and ready for you to collect as soon as possible.

Our Dispensary Answer Phone line is now closed. To order your prescriptions you can order online using the Patient Access account (account to be set up in practice), order in person at either practice, or by ordering through your Chemist of choice.

Prescriptions can be collected from either our Helme Chase or Maude Street surgery during practice opening hours.


Electronic Prescribing Service

We now have Electronic Prescribing, which means that your prescription will be sent automatically (electronically) to your chemist of choice, there is no longer any need for you to collect a paper prescription from the Practice and take it to the chemist, it will already be there waiting for you.

Please allow 2 working days for a repeat prescription to be ready, if a local chemist collects a paper prescription on your behalf please be aware that this may take a little longer.


Repeat Prescription Requests

You can order your Repeat Prescription via:

  • ONLINE SERVICES
  • Hand in your B-side, ticking each of the items you require
  • Through your chemist of choice
  • In person, at either site

Please note it takes 2 working days for a repeat prescription request to be processed.

If your prescription request is NOT on your repeat prescription, your request could take longer to process and the doctor may wish to speak with you.

Repeat prescriptions may have a review date printed on them. This review date is a reminder of when you should arrange an appointment to review your medication with a clinician. If you notice that your review date is approaching please speak to a member of the team who will arrange your appointment. In keeping with safe prescribing, if your medication review becomes overdue it may be necessary for us to reduce your prescriptions to weekly quantities, until you have your medication review.


Dispensing Patients

If you live more than 1.6 kilometres outside of Kendal but within our practice boundary, you are eligible to be one of our dispensing patients. This means that we can dispense your medications directly from the surgery. Our dispensary runs from our Helme Chase surgery however if you prefer to pick up your medications from Maude Street, we can arrange that for you.

As a dispensing patient you can:

  • Collect your medication from either Helme Chase or Maude Street
  • Have your medication delivered by the practice to your home, free of charge

Tuesday – 8.00am – 6.30pm

Wednesday – 8.00am – 6.30pm

Thursday – 8.00am – 6.30pm

Friday – 8.00am – 7.30pm

Emergency Prescription Requests

Requests for medication that you need within 24 hours to prevent you from becoming severely unwell. Emergency medications include; epileptic medication, insulin, inhalers for lung conditions, emergency contraception and Epipen/Jext for anaphylaxis. Please make your request by calling us on 01539 718080 and select option 2, at the earliest opportunity.


Prescription Costs

From 1st April 2018, prescriptions are charged at £8.80.
