Patient Participation Group

PPG

What is a Patient Participation Group?

A Patient Participant Group (PPG) is a quarterly meeting held by the practice which provides an avenue for patients and carers to influence their local services. PPG meetings help us to engage with patients and to understand their perspective of our services.

The aims of the group are:

  • To give us a patient’s perspective on how we can improve our services
  • To improve communication between us and our patients
  • To exchange information and ideas
  • To provide our patients with an opportunity to be involved in how their practice is run

These meetings are not a forum to raise individual complaints or seek medical advice.

We will sometimes discuss specific topics – such as changes in the practice or challenges we are facing, and work together to find a solution that works for everybody. We may also discuss patient feedback patterns, and things that are of particular interest to the patient group.

Join Our Patient Participation Group

If you would like to join our PPG at The James Cochrane Practice, please send an email to jcp.surgeryinfo@nhs.net express your interest.

Who Can Join?

You must be a patient of the surgery or a carer for a patient of the surgery to join. We would like our group to include members from as broad spectrum as possible to get a truly representative patient opinion. We need young and old patients, patients that work, patients that don’t work, patients that care for others, patients with long term conditions and patients from different ethnic groups.

Can't Attend?

If you would like to get involved but don't want to attend the meetings, we also circulate information such as practice newsletters, minutes of the meetings, surveys and other relevant information.
