Visiting Rounds at Kendal Care Home

With the drivers of improving quality for patients, and delivering healthcare in a more proactive way at the forefront of our minds, Dr Atkinson and Dr Russell are doing weekly visiting rounds at Kendal Care Home from Monday 10th February.

What is a visiting round?

This is an opportunity for us to be proactive, rather than reactive, in caring for our patients. Exactly what Dr Atkinson and Dr Russell do on the visiting rounds will be defined as they go, but they will see a number of patients one after another, in one visit.

What will it achieve?

We’re hoping to see:

  • Better quality care for patients
  • A reduction in the number of requests for GP home visits from the Care Home
  • Good working relationships between ourselves, the Kendal Care Home staff, and the Frailty Team
  • 100% of patient care plans completed and up to date

We’re really looking forward to working alongside our colleagues at Kendal Care Home and the Kendal Frailty Team, we hope that by working in a more proactive way we can reduce the number of GP home visits required, and deliver better patient care.

Dr Richard Russell

We decided to work with Kendal Care Home because the majority of its residents are now registered with our practice; this makes it a much smoother process. We’ll be sharing how we’re getting on, so keep checking our website and our Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates.
